German artists Nolde and Kandinsky did just that during the dark impending doom of war. Color for these courageous artists was embedded in a sense of optimism and hope despite all odds. 140 YEARS OF TELEVISION TECHNOLOGY

Image, Invention, and Imagination: A Series on Art & Community Through the Ages

Hammond Castle Museum
May 6, 7pm – 8:30pm

The story of television, one of the most ubiquitous technologies to alter civilization, is a winding tale of decades of painstaking research, false starts, technological dead ends and breakthroughs, commercial failures and successes, aspirational ideals, and human drama. The eventual success required a mosaic of individual scientists, engineers, and industrialists, including the museum’s founder, John Hays Hammond Jr., whose contributions to the medium are often overlooked. The presentation will be made by John Leysath, Curatorial Director at Hammond Castle Museum. Information.

ANTEDILUVIAN WORLDS
Exploring the Possibility of Human Civilizations Before Our Own

Earth & Space Report by Dr. Mark Carlotto
Recorded Zoom presentation

The latest contribution to William Waller’s fascinating series of Earth & Space talks was Dr. Mark Carlotto. His provocative presentation reported on a study of over eight hundred ancient sites, wherein the geographical orientation of almost half of the sites could not be explained using conventional archaeo-astronomy models.
Distributed throughout the world the sites include Mesoamerican pyramids, megalithic structures in Peru’s Sacred Valley, temples in Upper Egypt, cities of antiquity throughout southern Europe, the walls of Jerusalem, the foundation of Baalbek, and many other well-known places. A new model is proposed to account for their alignment based on an application of Charles Hapgood’s theory that patterns of climate change associated with ice ages are the result of displacements of the Earth’s crust and corresponding shifts of the geographic poles.
